Round 1

Having finished 4th in last season Championship Simon had mixed fortunes, on his Parkinson supported machine, at the season opener but finished of the weekend with a place on the podium in a wet last race of the day.

Round 2

Simon Braby riding his Parkinson supported Kawasaki ZXR400 returned to the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit over the weekend of 18th,19th April 2009 for round 2 of this seasons Formula 400 championship.

With this being the Bemsee Centenary meeting it was always going to be the most competitive round of the season with a starting grid totalling 40 riders.

Saturday morning timed qualifying went well with Simon going 6th fastest securing a second row start for the 1st race of the weekend. Race 1 on Saturday proved to be the highlight of the weekend with Simon finishing in 4th just missing out on another podium and he went on to finish in 7th & 8th place for the remaining races of the weekend. These results leave Simon sitting in 5th place in the Championship.

Round 3

Round 3 visits the super fast Snetterton circuit in Norfolk over the weekend of 6th, 7th June with Simon hoping to be challenging for podium finishes at his home circuit.

Round 4

This meeting did not go to plan. During qualifying Saturday morning one of the engines exhaust valves snapped resulting in a very sick engine forcing Simon to retire from the weekends racing. This was the second major engine failure this season after the engine was fully refreshed prior to the opening round in March

Due to the severity of the damage caused to the engine at Snetterton Simon was forced to miss this round at Oulton Park. The bike has been taken to Dynotech at Basingstoke (they originally tuned the bike prior to the 2008 season)for a full rebuild. After not scoring any points at the last two rounds it will have a major impact on Simon's Championship campaign this season and the decision has been taken to race as many of the remaining rounds as possible just for fun and look towards next season with regard to Championships.

Round 5

Brands Hatch GP is always a very popular meeting as Bemsee are the only motorcycle racing club other than BSB,fortunate enough to race the full GP circuit. With full grids and reserves in all the classes it was going to be the most competetive round of the season. After running in the new Dynotech engine Simon Qualified in 9th place on the grid out of a total of 40 riders. Simon managed two 6th place finishes on Saturday, however his weekend was cut short once again after a big crash at Paddock Hill bend in the first race on Sunday leaving him unfit to compete in race 2. The bike sustained damage to the frame, yokes and forks and will need straightening before the next round at Cadwell Park.
